Dive into the foundational elements of improv, where making offers and building on them are the stepping stones to crafting engaging narratives. Learn the techniques of active listening and scene support to enhance the dynamics of your performance. Discover spontaneous creation in this 3-hour intensive workshop.

Jump into this foundational, elements of improv workshop! We will focus on making and accepting offers, forming a connection with your scene partner and then building a narrative from those building blocks. Participants will develop a toolkit for instinctual storytelling, sharpening their ability to respond in the moment and co-create with fellow performers. Discover your spontaneity in this 3 hour intensive workshop, by the end you’ll feel confident creating something from nothing!
This workshop is great for fresh and experienced actors alike.

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Ryan Knighton is a prolific improviser and teacher based in Te Papaioea, Aotearoa. He was a founding member of SpontaneoUS, Wellington Fringe Festival Award-winner and a two-time National Theatre Sport champion. Ryan is a regular presenter at the NZ Improv Festival and has just finished a production of “Farce Onion” as part of NZ International Comedy Festival. He specialises in narrative, story and comedy and is passionate about empowering people to fully embrace and explore the art of improv.

Showcasing illustration, 3D printed sculptures, digital artworks and more – the work is a tribute to many facets of Pop Culture; inspired by Contemporary Fantasy, Studio Ghibli, Pokémon, Solar and Cyber Punk.

Trans versing across worlds and universes banded together by portals, you may encounter a variety of lush environments and fantastic characters. Some characters may be charming, delightful and lovable, while others potentially rebellious and dangerous, but collectively they all want to tell you their intricate stories of the world they live within.

All proceeds from the auction will support the digitisation, cataloguing, and exhibition of Peter Bush's extensive archive of rugby images, preserved by Te Manawa Museum and supported by the New Zealand Rugby Museum and the Bush family.
